Spam and cream cheese wontons are a delicious and easy appetizer that is perfect for parties or a quick snack. They are made with wonton wrappers, cream cheese, spam, and green onions. They can be fried, baked, or air-fried.
Bringing a taste of Hawaii to any Spam-loving household! Although this is not a Hawaiian dish, it sure counts as a local favorite. Growing up in Hawaii, there were not many households without Spam in their pantry.
Why are Spam and Cream Cheese Wontons So Popular?
There are many reasons why Spam and cream cheese wontons are so popular. They are:
Delicious: The combination of Spam, cream cheese, and green onions is simply delicious. The Spam is salty and savory, the cream cheese is rich and creamy, and the green onions add a bit of crunch and freshness.
Easy to make: Spam and cream cheese wontons are very easy to make. The filling can be made in a few minutes, and the wontons can be fried, baked, or air-fried.
Versatile: Spam and cream cheese wontons can be served as an appetizer, a main course, or a snack. They can also be customized to your liking by adding different ingredients to the filling. Many use imitation crab instead of cream cheese which is a classic. I have also seen dessert style using sliced banana and/or sliced strawberries with cream cheese as the filling. You can get creative!
